What is project evil?

I've noticed several messages about project evil, and I'd like to give
it a try.
Where can I get it?
Does it work with FreeBSD 4.9?
Are there any chances it will work with an atheros based card?

Possibly, although -CURRENT has its own if_ath driver for these cards.
